Being Alive: A Musical Tribute to Stephen Sondheim! at Broadway Lounge
Being Alive: A Musical Tribute to Stephen Sondheim! at Broadway Lounge

On November 26, 2021, the world lost one of its greatest storytellers through lyric and music. Those of us who are "show people" lost our muse.

Humbly, with gratitude, admiration and Passion, July 28th-30th & August 4th-6th the Broadway Lounge pays tribute with an original cabaret revue celebrating the life, the music, the lyrics, and the stories of our inspiration - Stephen Joshua Sondheim.

Conceived by Broadway Lounge Owner Andrew Driscoll, the show will feature the amazing Anthony Roberts on the piano along with handling the musical arranging and singing too!

Joining Anthony is the STELLAR cast of singers for this limited 6 night only run: Susan Somerville Brown, Todd Michael Cook, Helaina Kalman, Dave Schick, and Ava Stovall!

The revue will feature songs from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Anyone Can Whistle, Evening Primrose, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday In The Park With George, Into The Woods, Assassins, Passion, & Bounce!

Cost is $48pp per person for the show and dinner featuring our award winning 3 entree buffet from The Waterhouse!

Seating is at 6p, dinner buffet at 6:30p, with the show starting at 7:30p.

The dinner buffet will feature Roast Beef au jus, Boneless Chicken Breast in a creamy White Wine Sauce with Mushrooms, Pasta Primavera with choice of Alfredo or Marinara, Traditional Tossed Mixed Greens Salad, Party Potatoes, Green Beans with Bacon, Dinner Rolls, and for dessert Texas Sheetcake or Peanut Butter Sheetcake!!

Experience a diverse open mic with artists from all backgrounds in a positive and inspiring atmosphere. Peoria’s Open Mic for Poetry is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. Host: Ryan Lowry, DJ: Yvaine Washington

Each month the open mic features a popular regionally known poet. Poets from as far away as Maryland, Missouri and Florida have graced the stage. Regardless of a poet’s level of experience, everyone is welcome to share his or her work.

Audiences experience more than just someone reading from a page. Poets often memorize the piece and perform it as in a stage play. These are often soul-baring performances that might make you weep or laugh out loud. One thing is for certain, this is an entertaining and stimulating event. Join us on the 2nd floor, in the Preston Jackson Gallery.
