Interplanetary 5K Race + 1 Mile Fitness Walk

A family oriented race/walk for participants of all ages. 5K Race for all ages, 1 Mile Fitness Walk (1/2 Mile Kids' Fun Run will return next year)
Walk or run through portions of the Central Illinois Community Solar System, the world's most complete large scale model of the Solar System
Participants will follow the routes of interplanetary explorers through the Solar System, from the Sun - past Mercury, Venus, and Earth - to Mars and back along the Riverfront Trail
It's athletic, it's educational, it's fun... for the whole family!

LOCATIONS

Peoria Riverfront Museum (packet pickup), Gateway Building (start & finish Line)

Course: Entirely flat (no hills) along the Riverfront Trail (from Gateway Building to Detweiller Marina)

TIMES

Packet Pickup: Friday, March 25, from 12:30-5:30 PM, and race day starting at 7:30 AM, in the museum's auditorium on the lower level.

March 26, 2022:
• 7:30-8:30 am: Race day registration; packet pickup
• 9 am: 5K Race start
• 9:05 am: 1 Mile Fitness Walk start
• 9:30 am: Kids' 1/2 Mile Fun Run start
• Refreshments after 5K race; awards after the Kids' Fun Run

Participants can choose to receive a moisture wicking technical race shirt, or skip it for a discount on registration. Must register by March 2 to guarantee a shirt.

FEES

5K Race (3.1 miles): $25 ($30 race day), without shirt: $20 ($25 race day)
1 Mile Fitness Walk: $20 ($25 race day), without shirt: $15 ($20 race day)
Kids' Fun Run: $15 (includes Terry the Tractor book), without shirt: $10
Family Fun Run pricing: after registering 2 children, additional Fun Run participants in the same family pay only $7 each (must register by mail or in person for special pricing)

T-Shirt:

All race participants registered by March 2 have the option to receive a gender specific moisture-wicking technical T-shirt. Participants may also choose not to receive a shirt, for a discounted entry fee.

PACKET:

Included in your packet will be a one day pass to the Peoria Riverfront Museum, a sticker showing your out-of-this-world mileage, a moisture-wicking t-shirt (if you chose that option), coupons and more!

PRIZES:

Awards to overall male and female winners, and top male and female 5K runners in each age division. Certificates for kids and fitness walkers. All kids will receive their choice of a Terry the Tractor book, signed by the author and race director, Mike Rucker.

5K divisions: overall male and female; 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75 and up

Peoria Potpourri Trivia Night

“Peoria Potpourri” is the theme of Peoria Historical Society’s annual trivia fundraiser March 26 at the Illinois Valley Yacht and Canoe Club, 5102 N. Galena Road, Peoria Heights. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and eight rounds of trivia will begin at 6:30 p.m. 
“Everyone is welcome to come see how much they know about Peoria or discover new information they didn’t know about the city,” said event organizer Beth Johnson. Questions will explore Peoria history and examine the city of today, she said. 
Cost is $200 for teams of six to eight or $25 for individuals, who may choose to be placed with an existing team. Tickets are available at 309tix.com or by calling the historical society at (309) 674-1921. An option to play virtually will be available.  
Participants may pre-order a dinner. Beverages and snacks will be available to purchase. H Wayne Wilson of WTVP-TV will emcee the event.

Harry Tonchev is a jazz guitarist who is very active in Chicago and central Illinois. His high energy trio focuses on improvisational music by exploring a mixture of originals and standards from the Great American Songbook. His conversational approach to improvised music keeps audiences engaged.

The artists enrolled in the Contemporary Art Center’s Artist Membership program (CIAO) return to the Contemporary Art Center’s Preston Jackson Gallery on the 2nd floor of the building for a dynamic group exhibition featuring one work of art from each member covering the mediums of drawing, ceramics, glass, painting, printmaking and many more.

Drawing upon the ancient craft of basketry, Ann Coddington constructs organic vessels, at once both strong and delicate, that reference the human body and inspire questions about our place in the world. Since 2004, Ann has served as a Professor of Art and Graduate Coordinator at Eastern Illinois University.
