A Soft Knock on the Door: The Abolition
Movement in Peoria with Corey Curtis

Learn about the Underground Railroad in Peoria and local efforts to end slavery
with historian Corey Curtis, then enjoy a guided tour of Pettengill-Moron House,
built by abolitionist Moses Pettengill. Curtis will also discuss the role of African-American troops from Peoria who were in south Texas on June 19, 1865 when two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved people learned they were free, a day now commemorated as Juneteenth.
