About Chicago Farmer:
The son of a small town farming community, Cody Diekhoff logged plenty of highway and stage time under the name Chicago Farmer before settling in the city in 2003. Profoundly inspired by fellow midwesterner John Prine, he’s a working-class folk musician to his core. His small town roots, tilled with city streets mentality, are turning heads North and South of I-80.

“I love the energy, music, and creativity of Chicago, but at the same time, the roots and hard work of my small town,” he shares. Growing up in Delavan, Illinois, with a population less than 2,000, Diekhoff’s grandparents were farmers, and their values have always provided the baseline of his songs.

He writes music for “the kind of people that come to my shows. Whether in Chicago or Delavan, everyone has a story, and everyone puts in a long day and works hard the same way,” he says. “My generation may have been labeled as slackers, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t work hard - many people I know put in 50-60 hours a week and 12 hour days. That’s what keeps me playing. I don’t like anyone to be left out; my music is for everyone in big and very small towns.”

He listened to punk rock and grunge as a kid before discovering a friend’s dad playing Hank Williams, and it was a revelation. Prine and Guthrie quickly followed. The name Chicago Farmer was originally for a band, but the utilitarian life of driving alone from bar to bar, city to city - to make a direct connection to his audience and listener, took a deeper hold.

14th Annual Black & Blue Ball
14th Annual Black & Blue Ball

Join Easterseals Central Illinois for the 14th annual Black and Blue Ball on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom.

For the last 13 years, the Black and Blue Ball has remained focused on its two main goals: have fun and raise money. What many people have called the biggest party of the year, The Black and Blue Ball has grown from a gathering of friends to support Easterseals Central Illinois, to a full scale evening held at the Peoria Civic Center.

The event prides itself on being unique from the other traditional fundraising events held in Peoria, creating an atmosphere geared towards the young and young-at-heart professionals.  The Black and Blue Ball is one of the most popular fundraising events Central Illinois. Organizers give the credit to the consistent pool of Young Professionals in the area.

“For many young professionals, The Black and Blue Ball is their first experience attending a fundraising gala,” said Katie Musisi, Vice President of Development for Easterseals Central Illinois.  “The event is a great way for anyone who would like to support the mission of Easterseals to get a taste of what our organization is about, while enjoying a night out with friends”.

The 14th annual Black and Blue Ball will take place on Friday, February 1st at the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom.  The event will once again feature a large assortment of appetizers, entertainment by Wedding Banned and several opportunities to learn more about Easterseals Central Illinois.

Tickets are $100 per person, or $1,000 for a table of 10 if purchased by December 31, 2018. Tickets purchased on or after January 1st 2019 will be $125 per person or $1250 per table. Tickets can be purchased at www.KidsTherapyProgress.com  or by calling Krista Bieneman at 309.686.1177 ext. 2287 or Email: kbieneman@ci.easterseals.com.

About The Golden Fleece:
Psychedelic indie-rock band from Peoria, IL.

About Jeremy David Baker:
Jeremy David Baker is an American folk rock artist, originally from Florida. He signed with Green Shoe Records in 2015. Jeremy’s music tells of hope, loss, and revival. His strong voice is full of texture and emotion. His first album with Green Shoe Records is in its final stages and will be released in early 2016.

Jeremy grew up in a very musical family. It has always been a Baker tradition to pass the guitar around at family events. His musical upbringing was an exceptionally eclectic search, carrying Jeremy from one genre to the next. He was raised on early rock n’ roll by the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. As a young teen, he discovered punk rock and spent a few years playing angsty fast-paced anthems before falling in love with old, classic, country folk music.

“If you dig through my record collection you’ll find blues, jazz, punk, metal, country, even a little hip hop. No jam bands though…never jam bands.”

Now, as a solo artist, he reveals the culmination of years spent refining a melting-pot sound which is both inventive and enchanting.

About Tina Sparkle:
Tina Sparkle is a power trio from Peoria. Been doing it locally and nationally since 1998. 2 full length albums and 1 Ep so far.
