99.9 WWCT presents The Decemberists with special guest Tennis at the Peoria Civic Center Theater on Wednesday, April 11th at 7:30 pm.

VIP Options available through CID Entertainment- https://www.cidentertainment.com/events/the-decemberists-tour-2018/

The Decemberists explore a new sound with a new producer on their inspired eighth studio album I’ll Be Your Girl, which will be released March 16 on Capitol Records. The acclaimed Portland, Oregon-based band worked with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Lana del Rey) and embraced influences such as Roxy Music and New Order to spark a new creative path, as can be heard on the synth-driven lead single “Severed,” which is available today to stream or download.

I’ll Be Your Girl will be released on a multitude of formats, including 180gm LP, 180gm Limited Edition Orange LP, 180gm Limited Edition Blue LP (available at indie record stores), 180gm Limited Edition Purple LP (available at Barnes & Noble), 180gm Limited Edition White LP (available via Rough Trade Records in Europe), softpak CD, cassette, digital download, and a mystery deluxe edition box dubbed I’ll Be Your Girl: The Exploded Version, for which details will be revealed shortly.

The band has also announced the first dates of their Your Girl / Your Ghost 2018 World Tour, which kicks off March 22 and includes a stop at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria on Wednesday,  April 11th at 7:30 pm.

Behind the Silver Platters of the Dutch Golden Age
Behind the Silver Platters of the Dutch Golden Age

During the seventeenth century, the Dutch became world leaders in international trade. Still-life paintings of costly china and exotic foods reflected the prosperity that the country enjoyed, but they also concealed the true social costs of that prosperity. In this Fine Arts Society program, Dr. Julie Berger Hochstrasser, Professor Emerita of the University of Iowa, will discuss the story behind the opulent art. Social time at 9:30 AM. Program begins at 10:00 AM. Peoria Riverfront Museum, lower-level auditorium. Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for students.

The Grass Is Dead at Kennys Westside Pub
The Grass Is Dead at Kennys Westside Pub

Doors 9pm // Show 10pm // Tickets $7 // 21+

What’s in a name? Sometimes, everything… The Grass Is Dead are a bluegrass combo paying homage to the music and cultural legacy of The Grateful Dead, arguably America’s first folk rock band and one of the most influential musical artists of the last 50 years. The catalogue of the Dead’s music is a gold mine for string bands and story tellers, and The Grass Is Dead have established themselves far and wide as premiere purveyors of this rich tradition of Americana music. Pickin’ and grinnin’ is what they do best, and they have been adapting Grateful Dead songs in their own bluegrass style since 1998.

A festival favorite, The Grass Is Dead has built a loyal following from their home state of FL throughout the Eastern United States through burning live shows, and well beyond, through word of mouth, social media and old fashioned taper trees. The demand for Grateful Dead music is seemingly endless, and there are countless cover bands satisfying that demand on the local level, but there are not many artists out there approaching the music from the perspective of The Grass Is Dead. It is not complicated or artsy: this is a straight forward hootenanny built to last, and fans of either bluegrass music, The Grateful Dead, or both always leave happy, because sometimes there’s nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile…
