Whisper & Shout - Contemporary Art Center
Whisper & Shout - Contemporary Art Center
The Contemporary Art Center introduces a new host and focus for our monthly open mic poetry event, now called Whisper & Shout. Starting in March, the montly event will be held on the 1st Thurday of each month. Each night, the open mic will feature a popular regionally known poet, but everyone is welcome to share his or he work. The audience will experience more than just readings; these are soul-baring performances. Each month, there will be a theme to inspire local poets, but anyone can read what they wish. The smooth and passionate new host is Brandon Thorton who goes by Xplicit. This former math teacher hosts and promotes 5 different poetry shows. Spoken Acid, his 3rd CD, has received excellent reviews.

"Master Class" presented at Peoria Cabaret Theatre
"Master Class" presented at Peoria Cabaret Theatre
MASTER CLASS is Terrence McNally's Tony winning masterpiece about Maria Callas. Inspired by a series of master classes the great diva conducted toward the end of her career, this drama puts Maria Callas at center stage again as she coaxes, prods, and inspires students into giving the performances of their lives while revealing her own. Dazzling theatricality comes from Callas's cunning wit, her emotional explosions, & the soaring music as each student sings an aria that exposes the Divina's vulnerabilities ...and her genius.
3/4/11, 3/5/11, 3/11/11, 3/12/11 - fundraiser for the Opera Illinois League at The Waterhouse! For more information, visit www.peoriacabarettheatre.
